Thinking about what could happen if we had a power loss made us realize that we would also be without water. We have a shallow well and the pump is of course powered by electricity. In the state we live in there are storms, hurricanes, etc and we can be without power for hours or even weeks. With this pump we have installed as an axillary to our regular pump. true it may be manual power but we will at least have water. The workmanship of this item is excellent and should last us for years. We looked up plans online to do the actual hook-up and afer a quick trip to a hardware store to pick up the fittings and such it was no problem installing. We are very happy with our purchase and recommend this product.

At first i had given this a one star rating because i didn't believe it to work. The leather gaskets have to soak for a day and swell to be at Thier best and you really have to tighten the base down super well to get a seal and then it quits spitting bubbles and starts spitting water.
