Perfect for accessing Windows 365 Cloud PC

I purchased this product with the intent to access a Windows 365 Cloud PC and it works beautifully. For those of you who know of Windows 365 Cloud PC, you know that it is a virtual computer that runs in Microsoft's Azure cloud. With this stick PC, I was able to set it up as a Windows 365 Boot PC which means upon power up, it presents a Windows 365 Cloud PC login prompt; not your typical Windows login prompt. This allows me to log directly into the cloud PC and get to work. If you are interested in an inexpensive way to provide a Windows 365 Boot process that is smooth and easy for you or your users, this is one perfectly good way to go.

I didn't rate the gaming aspect as I did not test that capability. I would guess the gaming would be okay for older generation games, but that is only a guess.

This thing is a very interesting little computer that I find myself wanting to love, but just having too many drawbacks for me personally.

There is a lot of good to this device. First It's very small and simple to set up. It even comes with an hdmi extension cable for added versatility. The IO is very respectable with the 3 USB 3.0 as well as a headphone jack and an ethernet port. The SSD included, while nothing special, does perform at least as expected for a sata based ssd.

While I do like a lot about this, there are quite a few drawbacks. The first is temperature. My model came with the celeron j4125, and despite it being a meagre 20W CPU I never saw it below 60 degrees celsius. I understand that the smaller the pc the more cooling is an issue, but this results in a constantly maxed out fan which has an absolutely irritating buzz to it. The last bit of annoyance I had was the power brick. For being such a small power efficient PC it really just has an awkward shaped brick. Didn't have a ton of free space on my power strip and ended up needing to shuffle everything around to fit it, and even at that the power cable was too short to reach where I wanted it.

One separate thing I wanted to make note of here was the complete lack of seller branding. The listing has this listed as "ALADAWN Intel Compute Stick", but based on the stick I received there's no indication whatsoever that this stick came from anywhere other than intel. A bit strange, my assumption would be that this is just a basic OEM intel design and this seller decided they didnt need to brand it.

As a whole I still think this machine is a very nice idea. Very compact and easy to use. It's not very powerful and isn't good form much more than web browsing and some basic streaming, but it does that well enough. Personally though, I find it to run a bit too hot and loud for my liking and would probably prefer something either with a bit more cooling, or a bit less power.

The first impression was it is bigger than I thought. However, it is still a very small computer; and yet, it is fast with Windows 11.

I used it with the provided power supply, but very quickly noticed that it was too big to travel with it if I wanted to use it on the go. So I found a more portable USB C charger that I can also use to charge my phone and use to power this computer too. Now the travel lit is complete using a foldable Bluetooth keyboard.

We used it at the TV in the hotel, in the cruise, and at my parent's when we visited them. It allows you to do things that cannot do with your phone, like view full screen websites (a lot of times, mobile versions of websites simple don't show everything you need to know).

On the storage side and RAM this little computer is twice as powerful as any phone today. It works well for office suite, Internet browsing and watching videos from your favorite streaming service.

Overall, a very nice little device. Recommended if you have the need for a small and portable computer with Windows that fits in your pocket.

Very low power computer - great for the right user

My use case is a little different from the typical: I wanted to use this as a low-power device to run my cron jobs on so I could put my workstation (and as a side effect, my energy usage) to rest at night—and so far it’s stepped up to the task marvelously.

Overall, power draw was very low, and performance was good enough to run everything I needed to without too much hassle. I had a little bit of a struggle setting it up—the board outright refused to work with my MSI monitor but worked fine with my AOC monitor. The provided extension cable was really short, and it would have been nice to see a longer one, but so far it’s worked out well. It would have also been nice to see a securing feature, such as a lock, for the HDMI male connector, as the connection felt rather loose. But again, I have had no issues with it yet.

Overall I’m very pleased with this computer, and I think many people looking for a good low-power PC will agree. My only concern is that I haven't isolated why one monitor wouldn't work with it.

For anyone want more details:

I was unable to complete Geekbench testing —about halfway through it will ramp the fan up to max (which is off or silent in normal usage), and then turn off. I’m not sure what’s going on since it’s clearly not overheating, but it’s definitely the first time I’ve had an issue like this. However, the CPU-Z benchmark gave me a multi-thread score of around 500–which is very slow compared to modern processors, but again, I had power-saving modes enabled.

The low power usage and low temperatures are impressive. The highest I was able to coerce the chip’s power draw was an average of 5.0W with spikes to 6.0W. During normal operation it settle down to around 3.0-3.5W power draw. During idle operation I saw power draw as low as 2.0 watts (the individual processors, graphics processors, and memory was drawing so little power my program wouldn’t tell me. It was less than 0.1 W each!).

The onboard memory happily underclocked itself to around 1100 MHz, and stayed under 0.5 watts of power draw even during intense operation.

I was able to install and use several intense software development kits on the PC competently. There are many tall tales that have cropped up over the years of a development kit that treats its processor well and with respect—this is certainly not one of them. It sieged the poor, starved, underclocked Celeron (already crippled by power-saving sanctions) with a host of cruel compilers and compressors that sought nothing but to sow chaos among the quad-core package. However, the Celeron handled it well (it even did it faster than the company that I pay for to do this for me, which mildly irked me), and may even become my platform of choice in the future.

My only negative is that I'm not sure this is a great choice for someone who isn't up to some minor debugging if needed.
