I got the product just fine. 10/10 system, i'd buy it again. Took it to work and I left it in the backroom where only employees are allowed and it wasn't there anymore. Had this DSi for about 2 months.
So an actual review of the renewed system I received. Anything I don't mention works completely like new. So the two faults, 1: The touch screen has dead zones to the left and right and the hinge is stiff and squeaky. The first is an issue since I intend to use this system for art so I will be forced to fill these parts of the screen using the move tool.
The second I can only assume is a flaw which will compound into a bigger issue where likely the top screen will go out on me. Or maybe it'll just smoothen out over time? who knows. It hasn't reduced over the amount of time I've had it. I do really like having this system but I don't believe this system was worth $200+

The squeak in the hinge has almost entirely gone away. The edges of the screen are exactly as they were. Overall still holding up well. I take this to work everyday and i never take it out of my pocket when I'm not using it. That considered, this really is an amazing piece of hardware. Triggers still work like new too.
I've enjoyed playing DS games on my emulators and wanted to try the games out on the original Nintendo DS hardware. Due to my large hands and subpar eyesight, the DSi XL was the best choice for me. I've already searched all of the SF Bay Area and LA game stores for a DSi XL in great or mint condition. Right now, they are typically selling for $100-$130 for beaten up units with scratched screens to $130-$160 for semi decent ones with some cosmetic issues. I never could find a mint one anywhere, so I thought I'd give Amazon "Renewed" a try before rolling the dice with fleabay.

I ordered from Prime seller Cave Gamers an "Excellent Condition" Renewed bronze DSi XL. Please take a look at my photos tagged with "Item #1" to see the issues found on it. It obviously did not match Amazon's criteria for Renewed "Excellent Condition", so Amazon promptly offered to send me a replacement from the same vendor.
The second DSi XL I received from Cave Games was filthy, but the shell was in much better condition once it was deep cleaned. The bottom screen however was super scratched up until I realized that it was just a screen protector. Once that was removed, both the top and bottom screens were scratch free. There is still a slight yellowing on the right side screen edges for both the top and bottom screens. Unfortunately yellowing screens are common on used DS & DSi consoles, so you'll have to hunt for one with a perfect screen. Photos of the second DSi XL I received are tagged with "Item #2".
Issues found on "Item #2":
* The battery would only last for about an hour of Mario Kart 7. "Excellent Condition" should have >80% battery life as per Amazon. I swapped batteries with "Item #1" and now Mario Kart can be played for four hours without exhausting the battery. Batteries in both consoles were OEM Nintendo branded.
* The included wrong color (red) stylus was a $0.25 cheap knockoff made entirely with soft plastic that would stick on the bottom screen while sliding instead of gliding. I swapped it with the black stylus from "Item #1". It too was a cheap knockoff of a Nintendo stylus, but at least it had the proper tip so it could smoothly slide on the bottom screen and not scratch it up. I have recently replaced it with a Hyperkin bronze stylus to get the Nintendo OEM color and feel.
* The glossy top of "Item #2" had quite a lot of small fine scratches and a few medium scratches. I used some auto detailing supplies and hand polished it. Most of the smaller scratches are gone, but the medium ones remain and are visible from 12" away.
* The bottom screen digitizer must have been replaced on "Item #2". A harder than normal press of the stylus is required to register a touch. This is typical of the replacement digitizers from China.
I decided to keep "Item #2" as it was (shrug) good enough. I likely overpaid, but I've been burned too many times ordering from Japan vendors with less expensive DSi XL consoles.
Tips when purchasing one of these Renewed DSi units other than the obvious button press checks and game card runs:
* Check for yellowing on the screen edges when turning on a DSi. It is more obvious during the initial boot up when both screens are white.
* Insert a FAT32 formatted SD card (<=32GB) and use the photo app to store photos on the SD card. I purchased from a retro game store an almost mint DSi XL, but it was unable to read known good SD cards from other DSi consoles. You must have a working SD card to enjoy homebrew items.
* Use one of the default apps on the DSi that has drawing to verify that the digitizer on the lower screen is picking up stylus touches everywhere on the screen.

The upper screen has a little discoloring and along the sides of the bottom hand is scuffed
When I got it the top was not cleaned and a little dirty
The hinge for the stop screen is also a little loose
For what I paid it’s not bad!
Until I tried to put in da games, the card reader BARELY works.
I could out a game in several times and it’ll only show up once. Very disappointed.

- The price is too much since it's Pre-owned
= It came dirty (Wasn't much of a problem)
= The color is Metal Brown (Bronze) and it doesn't show it well in the pictures (i thought that the DS was color Black)
- It had a part of the touchscreen that I was not able to tap on and it got worse
[ ! ] It was not factory reset
[ ! ] It Arrived with ParentalControls activated (It's solved now thanks to YouTube)
+ It has a 90-day return thingy and that's cool
+ It luckily came with a Stylus
= Expect marks, stains, and slashes on the Product, if you're gonna buy it
- It isn't Renewed or Refurbished or anything like that
At least the problems that I have can be solved by having money and looking for someone who knows how to fix Old Consoles, or you can just buy the tools and replace the parts yourself
