For years, we have struggled with the durability of magic finger-type lighters. We heat with wood so starting a fire is an everyday occurrence. and the long-neck lighters just could not stand the test of time. This torch is great because of no child safety lock, a huge range of flame size and intensity, as well as a large fuel capacity. The torch flame can be adjusted on the fly using a single thumb, and the knob can also be locked to keep the flame on during times of extended use. I use this as a diesel technician rewiring trailer harnesses at the 5th wheel and this torch outperforms any bernzomatic or power probe brand torch. It is on par with the performance of the Matco and Snap-On torches at a fraction of the cost. The large base flares out at the bottom of the handle which also makes it very easy to hold and set down while lit without having to focus on making sure it does not tip over and ignite anything around it. 10/10

I don’t use this for baking at all but just like to have it around for lighting the grill, a cigar, the fire pit, etc.

I’ve forgot it out in the rain several times and it still works great. I’ve had it for over a couple years and after leaving out in the rain yet again I thought I finally broke it. I came to order a new one but realized I had just not realized I turned the flame down.

So leaving a review and ordering a spare to keep in the garage instead.

Sondiko Butane Torch S400, Refillable Kitchen Lighter: I found this easy to use. I was happy that it came with several small nozzles to use for different butane bottles. I didn't need them as the nozzle on the bottle I had fit this torch. I use this for creme brulee and got better results when using raw sugar. The torch blew the finer grain sugar around a bit and seems to burn it a bit quickly. I did try lowering the flame and holding the torch higher up, so it's probably user error.

READ THE MANUAL

I read a bunch of reviews of things going wrong with their torch. Plastic melting, intense flame, etc. In the manual, it tell you how to use it and what to avoid. I've had no issues with it and my torched sushi tastes great! It definitely feels cheap but you pay for the quality and it gets the job done.
