STURDY SIMPLE DESIGN

Our Watersnake electric motors provide saltwater anglers with a versatile range of tiller-steer transom-mount motors that are loaded with clever features.

CONTROL + FEATURES

The 34lb motors have a two-blade propeller. The 54lb motors each run a three-blade propeller. All propeller shafts are stainless steel and the props have a weedless design, so you can push the boundaries during your next adventure. All the motors run on 12V power and operate with 5 forward and 3 reverse speeds, which are controlled with the tiller handle throttle.

VERSATILE BOW MOUNT

The compact and stylish new Venom motor head design incorporates a new thicker ergonomic grip for the tiller handle. The new head design also includes a digital voltage meter display, so you can keep track of your battery’s condition. The grips on the alloy transom mount have also been upgraded, making it even easier to attach and secure the motor before you utilise the fast multi-tilt positioning bracket.

ELECTRIC POWER

Each motor is suited to boats ranging from small tenders and tinnies up to dedicated estuary and inshore sportfishing boats.

Plastic motor mount broke after three uses. Switches are not waterproof so the motor has to be covered up when it rains.18lb thrust worked well for tandem kayak and motor mount the the side of the kayak was easy using a drywall anchor.update 1/7/24 - I reached out to the manufacturer and they sent an upgraded motor mount that appears to be stronger.

I attached this motor to my 16.5' canoe (85 lbs). This small motor provides ample thrust to propel the canoe quickly through a lake. It is very light and easy to assemble and store.
The drawback is that the torque snapped the long steering lever so we have to use the small concealed handle within the motor.
I would recommend to the manufacturer to use a metal pole for the steering handle.
The company was very responsive when I contacted them. Excellent value.

I purchased this motor for my kayak, I have shoulder problems and paddling up river has become more difficult for me, the installation part was a little tricky trying to get the bolts on the bottom of the mount through a tiny fishing pole holder opening, but I did it, if you have a storage opening near by it might be easier, but still worked out good, today I put it to the test and it did absolutely great, I was able to leisurely cruise and i nice pace all the way up river. I give it a 8 out of 10 the mount does slip a little when you put the motor on full power unless you tighten it up really good. Either way it saved me a lot of work !!

After mounting and testing this kit on my kayaks I found that the brackets are not able to hold the thrust that the trolley motor provides so therefore it keeps sliding in the base holder! Useless bracket base holders..
You are going to have to modify the swivel base with maybe rubber in between the clamps or screws to keep the base from moving and keep it in is place to keep the thrust from moving the base. Poor design cannot get it tight enough with the self tightening nuts provided.

I bought the motor in January. But in Northern Michigan that means I wait until May to consider going on a lake fishing in a boat/Kayak. Thats when I finally mounted the Motor in my fishing Kayak. Drilling holes in my Kayak I am not a fan of but had to mount it. The mounting system, on the surface looks ingenious. Bu the true test was taking it out on the water. First off I realized what others had said about the extension rod for steering. Great concept bad execution. Couldn't get the thing tight enough to not slip. Next the Positive. The little 18LBS thrust has plenty of power. So much is spun the motor backwards out of the water out of my hand. I quickly attempted to turn it off but instead I hit reverse as I was trying to right it and there it went forward. The tube going to the mount is way to smooth and slips without hesitation. Now th eother problem that shocked me was the Mount sandwich also spun so now not only did I have pivoting Motor but an angled under the boat, motor. The sandwich that is supposed to clamp on the edges of the Mount were also to smooth and spun to change the angle of the motor.

Both issues need to be addressed. Some kind of texture or teeth need to be added to all points that connect to the shafts. Also I could not tighten down the bolts anymore. The plastic is to soft and the nuts just stripped them out. The additional extended handle also needs a rethink. Same issue can't tighten the nut enough to have it clamp down on the shaft enough to hold and steer. I completely removed that, after stripping out the nut housing.

Like I said the Motor is great. The mounting concept is good, the actual plastic and friction points need to be rethought completely. I have made modification to tighten things up and will see how it performs next time I go out fishing.

I bought this to use on my kayak for my birthday. My first impression was how easy it was to mount on my Lifetime Stealth 11' kayak, very little modification of the yak to mount it. When I tightened the motor to the mount, I used pliers to get it real tight, because of what I read from the reviews. I started out on low and everything was great, speedometer on phone showed I going 2 mph. I then went to high and the motor kicked up and almost out of the water, so I shut it down and tried to tighten it some more. That helped very little and now the rest of the mount went sideways. Considering how tight I had everything tightened this is completely unacceptable. I am giving the motor 5 stars and the mount 1 star since I was at least able to attach it to my kayak. Great idea but very poor engineering. I will drill holes in it and add screws to make it and laugh at the trained monkeys who designed it. Have a nice day.

I got the optional Kayak Bracket with the Watersnake 18 Trolling Motor. The products, seller, delivery, etc are all great. The seller, Innovative Procurement, is exceptional as I called them with some questions and delivery was amazingly fast. The motor itself (made by Jarvis in Australia) is great for a kayak as others have stated. I really like the optional bracket (instead of the transom mount) which is what the rest of my review is about. The bracket is innovative and allows easy removal of motor, swing it up/down, and fine tune for optimal position and most efficient power. A couple things to note as of Dec 2020… I got “version 2” of the bracket so"swivel plate" interlocks with the bottom "base" using teeth which I assume helps reduce any unwanted sliding, however, the pictures/videos currently show the older swivel plate so don’t be surprised when you get the newer version. Also, the metal jack beam rod is hard to push into the swivel initially but it loosens over time (that’s how you slide the motor on/off the bracket)....it helps to soap it to remove any sticky grime.

It’s easy to install and uses very little energy. I ran a 35 amp hour battery up and down the lake for about 7 to 8 miles and still had plenty of juice left. The only CON: is the handle, it’s very cheap thin and it snapped on me. When I turned it on high standing still. Other than that the trolling motor is awesome…

I got the 18, should have got the 32. This is great. Had a couple issues at first with parts breaking, cause of a situation, not manufacturing. Seller jumped right on it and sent me out ALL of the items i needed free of charge. I buy from this seller again. 100 stars from me. Down side, if mounting on kayak, find a better way. Sundolphin type plastic tends to flex and bend. Use a long support bar that fixes to both sides.

Bought this for a Pelican Catch 130 Fishing Kayak with pedal drive, picked up the Hobie Cassette and modified the unit to fit the water snake. Works well over all and I run it with 2 lithium 20 Volt, 30 Amp batteries which can last over 9 hours on low and low wind / current. Trolling speed on low is in the 1.9 to 2.3 mph range, wish it was lower but I have a drag sock to slow me down to get o the right speed. High speed gives me 3.0 to 3.2 mph so I always try to launch near my favourite fishing grounds to save the batteries for trolling. What I know now, I would certainly go with a higher thrust motor with variable speeds - the Minn Kota iPilot is the one id like, just like the Old Town Kayak of course there is a BIG difference between them in performance and price. Overall the Water Snake has served me well, and I hope it continues for a few more years.

I contacted the reseller twice to ask for some basic information but have been ignored. As another reviewer has pointed out, Watersnake themselves either no longer exist or are hiding from their customers. My question related to the use of Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries. These are lighter than lead acid and give greater useable range - something which is highly desirable for an electric trolling motor. However, there have been reports that the slightly higher output voltage of around 13.5 volts might damage the motor. As these batteries are increasingly popular, I wanted an answer but the vendor doesn't appear to be organised or considerate enough to oblige.
