Customers have issues with the tightness of the outboard motor. They say the hardware immediately wouldn't tighten and started slipping vertically. They mention that the handle broke off on the first try, the steering wand broke within 5 minutes of use, and the plastic motor mount broke after three uses. The motor bracket broke on the third time out. Customers also say that the product is cheap and will break.

"Plastic motor mount broke after three uses. Switches are not waterproof so the motor has to be covered up when it rains...." Read more
Customers have negative opinions about the control of the outboard motor. They say that the motor wants to move on all axes, swivels upward on the mount, and rotates. Some customers also mention that the bolt is loose, allowing horizontal free-wheeling. Some say that it will only go in reverse and that steering with the motor was nearly impossible.
"...That helped very little and now the rest of the mount went sideways...." Read more
"I like the motor, it does not steer my kayak at all due to the placement on the side. I think a rudder will help with this...." Read more
"...canoe or kayak avoid placement near middle of craft as turn will be slightly more difficult" Read more

The drawback is that the torque snapped the long steering lever so we have to use the small concealed handle within the motor.
I would recommend to the manufacturer to use a metal pole for the steering handle.
The company was very responsive when I contacted them. Excellent value.
You are going to have to modify the swivel base with maybe rubber in between the clamps or screws to keep the base from moving and keep it in is place to keep the thrust from moving the base. Poor design cannot get it tight enough with the self tightening nuts provided.
Both issues need to be addressed. Some kind of texture or teeth need to be added to all points that connect to the shafts. Also I could not tighten down the bolts anymore. The plastic is to soft and the nuts just stripped them out. The additional extended handle also needs a rethink. Same issue can't tighten the nut enough to have it clamp down on the shaft enough to hold and steer. I completely removed that, after stripping out the nut housing.
Like I said the Motor is great. The mounting concept is good, the actual plastic and friction points need to be rethought completely. I have made modification to tighten things up and will see how it performs next time I go out fishing.
